The Olympics and Your Strength Zone
2010-02-28 09:24:51

What is the largest gathering in the world of people living in their Strength Zone? I'll only give you one hint....it is finishing February 28th in Vancouver, BC.

That's right, the Olympics are the largest gathering in the world of people living in their Strength Zone. These people are the "elite of the elite" athletes in the world. These athletes, whether individual performers or team members, have spent a significant portion of their lives training to the highest level of performance possible. Each of the athletes has individual strengths that are best in class. They have taken these strengths and refined them to the point that they are the elite in the world. Now this didn't happen overnight and it didn't come without sacrifice and pain. It came with stunning determination and extreme focus on making strengths stronger. They hired coaches and experts and they trained, studied, reviewed video, practiced, competed, stuck with gruelling, disciplined routines and repeated this day after day, month after month and year after year until they were truly among the best in the world.

And then they came to Vancouver to compete to see who was truly the best in the world.

The amazing thing was that this disciplined, focused approach did not stop while they were competing in Vancouver....instead it was even more pronounced. The athletes continued their training routine and continued to refine their techniques and skills right up to their competition. In fact, there were numerous instances of athletes in multiple events or in events that required staged competitions that went through videos of their first performance and made adjustments to tweak their performance and squeeze out a little more from their area of strengths. These athletes were rewarded with Olympic medals (checkout medalists in curling, skating, figure skating, luge, skeleton, bob sledding and hockey for great examples).

So, what am I getting at?

If athletes do this to become the best they can be, why don't the rest of us. Think how good each of us would be if we would hire coaches and experts to help us identify our strengths and then trained, studied and practiced in these areas of strength every day. We would become the best in the world in what we do.....so why wait? Get started training in your Strength Zone and live up to your full potential!
